About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the development team, shaping technical direction and turning complex business challenges into secure, scalable and reliable software solutions.

You’ll work with technologies including C#/.NET, VB.NET, AWS, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kubernetes, Docker and RDS, while collaborating closely with Product Managers, Architects, engineers and other stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape solutions, challenge assumptions, mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting technical direction and leading the design, development and deployment of scalable software solutions across the organisation.

• Providing technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers and helping them grow their technical capabilities.

• Working with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders to understand business needs, define technical solutions, estimate work and prioritise development activities.

• Driving high standards for code quality, security, performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability.

• Reviewing and challenging technical decisions and ensuring solutions are aligned with architectural and engineering standards.

• Troubleshooting complex technical problems, identifying risks and driving continuous improvement.

• Helping teams adopt modern DevOps, CI/CD, testing and observability practices.

• Exploring and applying AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices where they can provide genuine value.

• Helping establish effective ways of using AI for activities such as code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, code review, analysis and developer workflows.

• Working with engineers to ensure that AI-generated solutions meet the same standards for security, quality, maintainability and reliability as any other software.

• Contributing to the evolution of our engineering practices and helping shape how software development will work in an increasingly AI-enabled environment.

What We’re Looking For

• You are an experienced software engineer and technical leader with a strong track record of delivering complex enterprise applications and designing secure, scalable and maintainable solutions. You have strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices across .NET, cloud platforms, containers, databases, CI/CD, testing and observability, and are comfortable moving between architecture, hands-on engineering and strategic technical discussions.

• You are confident in setting direction, making sound technical decisions, constructively challenging existing approaches, mentoring engineers and translating complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

• AI & engineering: You are curious about how AI, LLMs and agentic development can improve software engineering. Experience with AI coding assistants or AI-driven development workflows is a strong advantage, but above all, you bring sound engineering judgement and an openness to experiment and learn.
