About the role
As a Vessel Performance Superintendent, you will play a key role in optimizing vessel operations by leveraging data, technology, and technical expertise. You will be responsible for monitoring and improving ship performance, driving fuel efficiency, and supporting decarbonization efforts through data-driven insights and digital solutions.
We are looking for a Marine Engineer (preferred) or Deck Officer with onboard experience who also has a strong foundation in AI, machine learning, and data analytics. A Master or PhD degree is a plus. This role is particularly well-suited for marine engineers with a few years of experience who are eager to apply their technical knowledge while utilizing AI-driven models, ship sensor data, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) to create value and improve vessel efficiency.
In addition to this, some of your key responsibilities would be:
- Developing and implementing data-driven performance monitoring solutions.
- Utilizing machine learning and AI models to predict and enhance ship performance.
- Analysing ship sensor data to provide actionable insights for fuel efficiency and decarbonization.
- Creating interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and standardization across the fleet.
- Supporting regulatory and environmental compliance through data analytics and reporting.
- Monitor & analyse ship’s Daily, Weekly, Monthly Performance reports/trends on energy performance indicators, and identify the areas of optimization.
- Identify vessels with potential to improve performance and engage with them to highlight areas of improvement, provide relevant technical suggestions / best practices to improve performance and follow up with vessels till the performance is improved.
- Ensure vessels to follow procedures, comply with Voyage and energy reporting with high data quality
- Keeping MRV, ESI, IMO DCS and other regulatory and environmental reports up to date.
- Pro-actively share knowledge with the team and the company at large for technical purposes.
This role is ideal for a technically skilled marine professional who wants to combine practical maritime experience with AI, data analytics, and digitalization to drive innovation in vessel performance.
About you
- Marine Engineer (preferred) or Deck/Engine Officer with 2 to 5 years of onboard experience.
- Technical expertise and strong interest in Energy Efficiency, Fuel-Saving Technologies, Alternative Fuels, Ship Performance Monitoring, and Decarbonization.
- Experience or high interest in AI, machine learning, ship sensor data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence software (e.g., Power BI) and data analytics is a plus.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English (must-have).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills (must-have).
- Proactive, results-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- You will play an important role in Vessel Performance Team as a technical expert, so you should be open minded, actively challenge current processes productively, support team for continuous improvement
- You are a proactive member in the Vessel Performance Team, but also ready to handle many of routine reporting, documentation works
- You are ambitious for new technologies related with shipping industry, decarbonization, fuel efficiency and operational excellence to contribute DFDS for better Vessel Performance Management.
