About the role
As a Vessel Performance Analyst, you will play a vital role in optimizing vessel operations by leveraging data, technology, and your technical expertise. Your responsibilities will include creating value-driven reports and interactive dashboards in Microsoft Power BI, maintaining and enhancing data sources and semantic models, and driving standardization to improve the user experience.
We are looking for a skilled Data Analyst with deep knowledge and proven experience in Power BI—someone who can develop complex dashboards and transform data into actionable insights. Experience with shipping operations and decarbonization is a strong advantage.
Basically, we are after for Power BI professionals, if possible, with Maritime experience.
In this role, you will frequently use both Python and Power BI together to process ship sensor data prior to visualization.
In addition to this, some of your key responsibilities would be:
- Applying machine learning and AI models to predict and enhance vessel performance.
- Analysing ship sensor data to identify opportunities for fuel efficiency and decarbonization.
- Creating advanced, interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and standardization across the fleet.
- Supporting regulatory and environmental compliance through data analytics and reporting.
- Maintaining dashboards and semantic models to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Developing ad hoc reports and performing data quality checks as needed.
This is an excellent opportunity for technically skilled Data Analysts with advanced Power BI expertise—and ideally maritime experience—who want to make an impact in shipping by combining IT skills and AI technologies with technical knowledge of shipping, decarbonization, and performance management.
About you
- Extensive experience with Power BI and Python (essential).
- Interest or experience in AI, machine learning, ship sensor data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong proficiency in the DAX language.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English (essential).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills (essential).
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
- An open-minded approach, ready to challenge current processes constructively and contribute to the team’s continuous improvement.
- Ambition to stay updated on new technologies related to the shipping industry, decarbonization, fuel efficiency, and operational excellence—to help drive better vessel performance management at DFDS.
